All opinions are mine alone. #ProtectFromPetMess #SeasonalSolutions #CollectiveBiasI am in the spirit of fall, despite the unusual heat we’ve had and the fact that I’ve been wearing flip flops still. Football fever has set in, I have my autumn decor out and I’m making fall flavored family dinners like Butternut Squash Fajita Salad and Sheet Pan Beer Brats and Vegetables.
A big part of the fall season for us is spending Sundays at the soccer field watching The Boy play. We’ve been anticipating and anxiously awaiting the day we could take our new puppy, Griffin, to these games too. When we woke up last weekend to a cool autumn breeze, I was so psyched! Fall seasonal weather at last! I’m pulling out my plaid scarf and I’m determined to do a little fall activity catch up. We are hitting the orchards for those apples and grabbing some pumpkins from the patch. We are also getting Griffin out of his comfort zone and expanding his experiences. This pup is going to his first soccer game!A kid’s soccer game is a great place to get our new puppy lots of attention and meet tons of new people. All socialization is not good socialization, so we want to make sure he is comfortable with this level of stimulation. We’re keeping an eye out for any signs of stress, like whining, clinginess, tail tucking or lip licking. We definitely don’t want Griffin to think this soccer game is a cause for worry. To make this new experience easy on all of us, there are 5 must-have essentials we keep on hand for a comfortable and stress-free outing to the field.
Pet Stain Remover
Our little Lab loves to dig! Griff’s first soccer game won’t end at the field, so I’m prepared for his muddy little paws when we return home. Thankfully, I have STAINMASTER®™ Carpet Pet Stain Remover to help me this fall. Cleaning up the soiled spots from wet dirty paws is so much easier with STAINMASTER.
When we first brought this cutie home 3 months ago, I dreaded the clean-up on my carpets. I did not need another thing on my to-do list, that’s for sure. While we were house breaking Griffin, his accidents left me with stubborn spots. I tried a few other products but this is the one that lifted those stains easily and, best of all, it eliminated the foul odor quickly.
With other products, I was left with a sticky residue that seemed to attract dirt over time. This product is designed to repel dirt and it continues to protect my carpet from new marks this little guy makes. I’ve also sprayed some old spots like juice spills and it lifted those stains too. How awesome is that?!
It’s easy to use.
- SPRAY: Spray product liberally and directly on affected areas.
- WAIT: Wait 3-5 minutes to allow solution to penetrate the stain.
- BLOT: Dampen the spot with water and blot with a clean, colorfast paper towel or cloth. Repeat as necessary to remove the stain. For best results treat stain immediately.
I love it for my high-traffic areas…I just need to get this little stinker to move first. I’m so thrilled I don’t have to stress about the condition of my carpets that go along with having a new puppy. STAINMASTER has me covered and Target makes it easy for me to buy. It’s right in their cleaning aisle.

Treats
Like most puppies, I’m sure, we can show Griff a treat and he becomes the best little listener around. As he watches the moving ball and all the exciting action, we are giving him a treat and a lot of praise. We want him to understand that these loud noises, funny smells and energetic kids on the field are perfectly normal. We give extra treats to fans and friends that want to interact with Griffin so he associates new people with good and happy feelings.
Water and Bowl
The weather is cooler but this pup still needs to stay hydrated just like those active boys on the field, so we make sure we have fresh water and a spare bowl with us.
Poop Bags
Open fields full of lush grass and new smells means this boy is bound to get busy and we are ready for the clean up.
Chew Toy
Once our pup is settled in to this energetic surrounding and the initial excitement has calmed, he may need some entertainment. This teething little guy is content sitting at our feet chewing away on a favorite toy. Good pup!
We did it! We all survived this day, muddy paws and all, at the soccer field! Griffin is worn out and, honestly, I am too. Monitoring this pup’s first soccer game visit kept us on our toes, but we are thrilled with his response to the situation. The experience was positive and fun for all of us!What are your puppy must-haves when you’re leaving the house for a fall day outdoors?

Such helpful tips! We are planning on getting a dog this year and now I know exactly which stain remover I’ll use!

That’s fun! Congrats! It has been a life saver for me and my carpets!

Oh my goodness, your dog is beautiful! He seems so well-behaved. I had a chocolate lab when I was little but he passed right before I left for college 🙁 . My second year of college I decided to get a beagle puppy. (The size was good for an apartment). But wow, she is the cutest, most stubborn thing. There’s no way I can take her to any games. We tried puppy training school. She’s just 20 pounds of straight stubborn. I will definitely have to keep the stainmaster in mind as she still has accidents. She’s still a puppy though, so i’m sure she will get better. Great post!

Thanks! I can relate to this story…We had a hound 6 years ago and she was not easy to train and never would have done well at a soccer game. She was stubborn too! This time around, we were determined to have a very trainable pup for our family of 5 so that’s when we found this cute lab. He’s been great!

Oh my gosh, he is so precious! I love that pic of him laying on the stairs! 🙂 We take our Gryffie to soccer games too. And I’ll tell you, we certainly need Stainmaster for after those games because he always walks in wet grass or muddy areas. I haven’t found a product ai liked yet, but need to try Stainmaster! #client
