What could be more fun than crafting and creating holiday wreaths, munching on apps, and sipping some wine with your girlfriends?
My great friend, Kim, hosts a wreath making class every year. I seriously look forward to this girls night out each holiday season. Please keep inviting me, Kimmers.
The wreath making is at a local nature center and for a very reasonable price, the center provides the wreaths, the greenery, a variety of ribbon, and a huge assortment of ornaments.
Each year, everyone ups their game a bit and instead of just using the supplies from the nature center, we all arrive with bags of goodies to meet our decorating needs.
It’s so fun to see what everyone comes up with!
Last year, instead of making a wreath for my front door, I made a wreath to hang on my window over my kitchen sink. I had a black and white Christmas theme going on in my kitchen last year.
This year I was really looking to create something with a bright splash of color.
I fell in love with this ribbon from Michaels and knew I wanted to incorporate it somehow.I wanted a simple looking bow…it is so easy to make!
Cut two longer pieces of ribbon. For this bow, I cut two 18″ pieces. You will also need a shorter length piece of ribbon. I cut a 12″ piece for this bow. And finally, you’ll need a very short piece. Mine is 5″ in length.
Make a loop with one of the long pieces and the shorter piece. Use hot glue to secure the ends together. Once the glue has cooled, stack the shorter loop on top of the longer loop and glue together in the center.
Take the smallest piece and fold the edges in to get a clean look. This will be the center of the bow.
Give the loops a pinch in the middle and put the last piece of ribbon at the bottom of the stacked loops.
Now carefully wrap your smallest piece around it and secure with hot glue.
Give the tails a v cut and you have the perfect simple bow!
I added some extra greenery, bright moss, and pinecones.
And I decided to use the rustic holiday tags that I also found at Michaels.
Update: 2017 Wreath in the making with another no-sew bow…
