Enjoy this salty, crunchy mix that’s easy to throw together and will be perfect for snacking on through the holidays or any time of year. I’m not sure I remember a single Christmas season where my mom’s Nuts and Bolts snack mix weren’t present on the coffee table or kitchen island.
This is the sign of a well used and well loved recipe, isn’t it?
I’ve continued the tradition of making these each Christmas and my kiddies love them. Fortunately for me, while I am busy holiday cooking, my girls can help throw these together for me…with minimal arguing.
After all the goodies are mixed together, you pour this savory buttery mix all over and give it a gentle stir.
Baking these Nuts and Bolts for an hour at a low temp makes them even more crispy and full-flavored. They become addicting and you’ll find yourself refilling the bowl over and over again.
What is your favorite holiday snack?
- 4 cups Cheerios
- 3 cups corn Chex
- 3 cups wheat Chex
- 3 cups pretzel sticks
- 1 lb. salted peanuts
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- 1 tbsp. Worcester sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
- 1 tsp. celery salt
- 1 tsp. garlic salt
-
Gently mix all dry ingredients together.
-
Melt butter and add seasonings to it.
-
Add melted butter mix to the dry ingredients and gently stir to combine and coat all the mix.
-
Toast in oven at 250 degrees for 1 hour, gently stirring every 15 minutes.
