DIY: Make Your Own Rustic Signs

Need a quick and easy decorative accent that you can make for any room?

All you need are some leftover boards, a little paint, some imagination, and if you are like our family, you’ll need a sense of humor too. I took the leftover pieces of barnwood from this bathroom makeover and asked Bill to rip them on the saw. You could definitely use new boards that have been stained and sanded to give it a salvaged look.

I gave the pieces a light sanding and used my stock of acrylic paints to give 2 of the boards a barn red coat of paint. Then I simply freehanded the silly sayings onto the boards.

The Bean’s message is very important, because for some reason, my littles need this reminder. Guess which one The Boy did? Though The MC’s message is more fun! LOL.I’ll take credit for the barn door comment…I never want to leave the bathroom with my zipper down.Once the signs were dry, I prepared them for hanging with a simple wire and round screw hooks. They look so cute in my kids’ bathroom and they definitely give us some laughs when we read them!
