Sweet, caramelized candied strips of pumpkin spice bacon will be your favorite new fall treat. There’s not much to say here. If I didn’t have your attention at the flavor that has become synonymous with autumn than I’m sure I grabbed your attention with the words “candied” and “bacon.”There’s no denying that many have taken the pumpkin spice obsession beyond the white cup.
I’m taking this obsession into the bacon mania world. This mash up is amazing and incredibly easy to whip up.
Brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and thick-cut bacon. 3 ingredients that come together to create an addicting and, well, I’d say magical little bite. Serve this as an appetizer at a cocktail party or as a side dish at a fall brunch get-together. Crumble it on a salad or even a dessert. Either way, it will be a hit and won’t last long on the table.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some candied bacon to eat…
Have you made candied bacon before?
Sweet, caramelized candied strips of pumpkin spice bacon will be your favorite new fall treat.
- 8 slices thick-cut bacon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar firmly packed
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- orange sugar optional
-
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
-
Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Set a cooling rack on the foil.
-
In a shallow bowl, combine the brown sugar and the pumpkin pie spice.
-
Dredge the bacon slices on both sides and place on the rack.
-
Bake until crisp and the edges are beginning to brown, about 22-25 minutes.
-
Let cool for 5 minutes before handling.
Adjust cook time accordingly. Bacon should be caramelized and crisp and stand tall when held vertically.
For a festive touch, sprinkle orange sugar on the bacon when it comes out of the oven. It will give it a more vibrant orange color and sparkle.
