When Bill suggested hosting our friends for a backyard party to celebrate his milestone birthday, I, of course, went into my crazed party planning mode. I have a tendency to overthink every little detail of a celebration. I’m not sure everyone in the room appreciates all the little details, but I sure do. I love the personal touches at an event and enjoy all the brainstorming and planning that goes behind it.
Splashes of personality and pizzazz at a gathering can get expensive though. I certainly don’t like to overspend on party decor or festive items that I may never use again.
So you might imagine my excitement when I discovered a few boxes of empty bourbon bottles in my basement.
Bill saved them knowing that I love to repurpose just about anything.
I already use a few label-less liquor bottles in my vignettes because I love the beauty in the shape of them and they are useful as inexpensive home decor.
The boxes of bourbon bottles for my bourbon loving husband’s 40th birthday were going to be perfect decor for this affair.
I threw these together so quickly without much thought that, honestly, I don’t even have proper photos.
I grabbed my jute twine, matched up some bottles of varying heights and started to wrap them together. With a simple flower and some greenery, these recycled bottles were the perfect decorative touch at our backyard get-together.They looked superb on our big barrel pub tables and added a personal touch of my husband’s favorite treat to our food table.
They paired well with the bourbon bar and the bourbon banner that hung in the tent as well, tying the decorative flairs together throughout the space.
I love the character it added to this masculine party.
Best of all, when it was time to clean up, the bottles were stashed away again and I didn’t even spend a penny on my centerpieces. Well, unless you count the dollars spent on the actual bourbon when my husband enjoyed sipping it. LOL.
Think about all the possiblites with reusing bottles for centerpieces. You could use wine bottles, beer bottles, or growlers like my Oktoberfest Biergarten Growler Centerpieces. You can swap out the jute twine for ribbon that is more festive and colorful. Bright flowers or rustic branches can be added to these bottles. You could even try adding candles to the centerpieces. There are so many options with minimal spending.

Those are lovely! I love how charming they are and you’re right they were easy! I guess the hard part would be finding all the empty alcohol bottles. LOL.

Ha! So true…finding EMPTY bottles is the hardest part. Luckily I had a few years worth stashed in the basement. I guess if you plan ahead, you can start collecting from friends too…

We don’t drink but maybe I could do something similar with dressing/salsa bottles (labels removed)?
Olive Jude says
I’ve done it with mason jars too! Olive oil bottles might be fun!

What a great use of all of the bottles I keep for no reason at all. Would have never thought to tie them together. Maybe a good idea for wedding centerpieces as well. But maybe with just wine bottles ha.

Wine bottles would look so pretty! This would be a great centerpiece at a wedding…it could really be fancied up with beautiful flowers and candles. Thanks for stopping by!
